About Our Founder

about our founderPastor Abraham Mathew is the founder and former Pastor of Dallas Pentecostal Church. Through his ministry, what began as a small church in 1986, has grown into a congregation of over a hundred members. Dallas Pentecostal Church or DPC was able to grow from this man’s vision and God’s grace and provision.

His faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was something that everyone saw in him. He made The Creator the center of his life and made sure that everyone he loved knew about the love of God. He was not only a pastor, but also a husband, father, grandfather, and teacher. Most of all, he was known as a friend to everyone, and made everyone feel special and loved.

He was born in April 16, 1946 in Mylapra, Kerala, India. He was the oldest of three boys. In 1969, married Marykutty Abraham. and together they started serving the Lord.

In 1970, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Although he faced rejection and was ostracized from his nominal family, he left home to attend Christian Bible Institute in Mavelikara, Kerala. He continued his Bible education in Banglore. He served as a teacher and registrar at New India Bible College. In 1986, Pastor Mathew and family moved to the United States and resided in Dallas, Texas. With th guidance of the Holy Spirit, he started a new church, called Dallas Pentecostal Church.

On September 1994, Pastor Mathew was struck with pneumonia and fell into a coma. He remained in a coma for five months but through the prayer of many saints and healing hand of God he was back in the ministry. He once again dedicated himself fully as a servant of God. With the vision to share the gospel, Pastor Abraham Mathew had a strong desire to start a Bible training school in India. In June 2000, Maranatha School of Evangelism Training Center, located in Kumbazha, Kerala, opened its doors. Pastor Mathew served as president of the organization. Through this ministry, he traveled all over India and helped the impoverished of India by providing bicycles, sewing machines, homes for the homeless and educational assistance to orphaned children. He poured out the love of God and and the Word of God to those who needed to hear its hope filled message. He was also a talented writer and wrote two books.

On July 20, Pastor Abraham Mathew went to be with the Lord. He will always be remembered by family, friends and loved ones. His legacy forever remains. He will be remembered for his dedication to prayer life and how the power of God can work through anyone.
